3-2. Companies supporting WFP
 


     


Although the main source of WFP funds is contributions from governments, many companies have been supporting it and making contributions.  Below are extracts from WFP Japan Office Homepage:


 
     
 
In September, 2009, WFP announced the launch of 乬Project Laser Beam.乭  WFP will work with international companies such as Royal DSM, Heinz, Kraft Foods, and Unilieva.  This project aims to wipe out starvation and undernourishment among children in the world.  In the next 5 years, it is expected to collect activity funds of 50 million USD from the corporations and parties which support the project.

   
     
 
In 2007, Charle Co.Ltd., a Japanese underwear company, implemented 乬Let乫s Stretch out with Charle - The Bonds of 500,000 People Campaign.乭  Charle donated 10 million yen from the sales of its stretchable towel product for this campaign, 乬 Nobiru Towel (Stretching Towel).乭

   
     


In 2006, FamilyMart Co., Ltd., a Japanese company operating a chain of convenience stores, donated 8,115,883 yen for the relief funds for the victims of the Java Earthquake.  It was collected using donation boxes at all of Family Mart's stores.
