MOVE FORWARD WITH STRONG HEART

 Since October 16th, 2009

"Navy blue challenger" is a homepage to challenge the global food problem.

I am just an office worker in Japan. I have been studying the global food problem privately from some books and homepages since I participated in related volunteer work at WFP Japan several years ago.  In 2008, a rise in grain prices made people around the world think the possible global food crisis more seriously than before.  But I felt it's not enough. The issue was raised by U.N., FAO, WFP and each governments and organizations, but I felt that it was not fully raised up by the whole society.

Just about that time, I started losing the mobility in my arms and legs due to a serious disease called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ("ALS").  I became unable to play rugby football which I beloved, and then I became unable to walk.  But I thought that, even if my body becomes immobile, with a strong spirit (I call it a "strong heart"), anything can be overcome. So, as a challenge in my life, I decided to create this homepage with my barely moving left hand, so that much more people would be conscious of the global food problem.  Using the knowledge I learned from some books and homepages, I tried to explain the big picture of the global food problem plainly as possible.  I want to contribute to people who are suffering from this problem in the world.   I strongly believe that moving forward is very important, even if each gain is so small. It's just like a rugby football player.

My opinion through this homepage is so simple. Many people in developed countries think that the world hunger is an issue for people in developing countries in Asia and Africa, and that it is not an issue for developed countries. But, the world hunger and the global food crisis, these two issues are linked closely in the system of production, consumption and distribution of food. The global food crisis might bring impact also on developed countries. So, the global food problem, including both of the world hunger and the global food crisis, is an issue for all the people in the world. So I believe that we should take action against the global food problem, because IT'S OUR ISSUE.

Do you know what the world population is right now?  Do you know what the abbreviation 乬MDG乭 used by the U.N. means?  I understand life is hard for all the people.  Workers, housewives, students, everyone is busy from everyday work or studying.  You probably don乫t have the time to turn your eyes to the global food problem.  But please make a little time when you have a day off and look through this homepage, 乬Navy blue challenger.乭  Thank you.
